Structural component highlight:
The builder's years of experience has caused him to add elements beyond what the Mat Su Valley building code requires. He added a shear wall in the garage for added structural integrity and to minimize house shifting. Another touch he adds is he runs his wall sheeting down past the bottom plate around the entire perimeter of the house prior to nailing. This gives an added structural component. Its touches like this that come standard on a J & L Builders Inc. home.
The builder also endorses the use of truss screws that are approximately 6 inches long to secure the roof joists to the top of the double wall plate. Many builders use a H1 metal bracket but this causes a terrible interior finished look when the drywall is finished.
