The property is built on land granted by William Penn to George Wood in 1684. Charles B. Prettyman built all but one of the homes on W. LaCrosse Avenue circa 1895. 47 is one of the first three homes he built on the street. It is the only property on the street that retains its original stick style design. Most of the other homes he built represent the Queen Ann style. Stick Style creates borders around the various architectural surfaces including fish scale and diamond shaped shingles, beaded board installed in a diagonal pattern and horizontal cedar siding.
