This property is in a lovely, quiet setting, one mile from where Canal Road ends at a large park on Lake Superior. The forested lands between the property and the lake provide some buffer from lake effect winds and snow. The area is known for its numerous summer and winter recreational opportunities. The property was last operated as a hobby farm for breeding large livestock guardian dogs and goats (for the entertainment of the dogs). The simple house, built in 1940, has been remodeled and modernized several times. The most recent and extensive changes were made in 2002-2004 with the addition of new roofing, upgrades to interior heating and air conditioning, new flooring, the addition of a fully enclosed stairway/tool storage area connecting the main floor to the basement, the addition of concrete flooring and floor-system shoring in the basement, the installation of a deep well, and installation of a water filtration system (2017). There is a wonderful covered front porch (added in about 2014 and suitable for screening) overlooking the large front yard, and a mostly enclosed back porch. The house main floor is a single great room kitchen/?living room, bathroom, and mudroom/laundry. The main floor has been partially finished with tile/wood trim around the windows, but it needs additional finishing work to complete the aesthetic appearance, and the stairway to the second floor could use a new railing. The second floor has one large bedroom and one large room that could be converted into one or two more rooms. The basement has a point-source well (the drinking water source for the original house) that is drained using a sump pump that keeps the basement dry in spite of the high ground water in the area. There is a one-car carport. There is a well-insulated barn (built in about 2005) with a hay loft, a milking room or office, and a tool/equipment storage sheds on both ends. There is an 8-stall dog kennel building with interior and exterior pens and through-wall openings (built in about 2012). A large area (several acres) behind the house and extending out to the barn is fenced (and set up with gates for keeping and moving around dogs and goats), and apple trees and other fruit abound. The rest of the 33 acres is about half open and half forested with a mix of hardwoods and conifers that is frequented by lots of wildlife. There are several potential additional building sites on a hillock north of the existing house. Note that Google Earth® mis-locates the true position of this property based on the street address. The coordinates of the developed portion of the site are as follow: 47°12'51.29"N 88°37'45.75"W.
