Having the patio, with lush plantings all around, in front of the house creates a “feel good” entrance and the perfect place to entertain. Whether you are gathered around a fire pit with friends on a chilly evening or just swinging and relaxing, you will love this patio!!!
Park Avenue borders one side of historical St. Simons Park, which is filled with nothing but majestic Live Oaks, so the view from this house is truly special. The yard was featured in the “At Home” section of Southern Living magazine in its May 2021 issue. You will notice a “TREE SPIRIT” overlooking the patio. It was carved by artist Keith Jennings, and it is quite special to have one in your own tree!
This house was also the setting for eight days of filming the movie, Christmas on the Coast. Other scenes were filmed in the park and various places on and around St. Simons.
This home was designed inside and out by the owner who is an artist. You will notice the attention to detail in every room which makes the home unique. You enter an open floor plan of living room with gas log fireplace, dining area and kitchen with a large island which has a custom made wooden top. The cabinets are white with a soft grey quartz countertop. Also, there is a built-in bar with a gorgeous natural oyster shell composite top. The walls of white shiplap convey such a coastal feel. Through a wide cased opening is a sunroom on the front of the house with a view of the park. The hardwood flooring throughout the house is white oak in random widths.
A large utility room with cabinets and a walk-in pantry is next to the kitchen. There is a cozy TV room with a sliding door going into the master bedroom suite, which has room for a king bed and has one of the several unique ceilings in the house. The master bath has a double sink vanity with beautiful Silver Cloud marble; and the shower is tiled with the same. There is a water closet and walk-in closet with built-in drawers and shelves.
Both main and upper levels have ten-foot ceilings. Deep moldings are used throughout the house. There’s shiplap, beaded board and board and batten throughout the upstairs.
Upstairs, you will find two fabulous guest rooms! Each room has ample space for a king bed and an XL twin bed. The twin beds are in beautifully designed alcoves with sconce lighting fixtures. Each room has a private, en suite bath. One guest bath has a shower with black granite vanity top and black and white tile work. The other one has a separate shower and tub with Carrara marble vanity top, as well as grey and white tile work.
There is a perfect home office space with a wall of built in bookshelves.
Off the hall is a large storage room with plenty of shelving. Also, off the hall is a walk-in closet for extra clothes. There are three walk-in attics for even more storage!
An art studio/bedroom is on the front of the house. Double French doors open onto a balcony that is nestled under the limbs of the live oak. Two rockers invite you to sit for a while and enjoy the view of the park. There is a perfect place to easily add a bathroom adjoining that room, should it be needed as a fourth bedroom.
The one and a half car garage is at the back of the house. It has a heating and air conditioning unit which makes for a great workshop! A potting shed with a farm table and shelves is on the right side of the house. It’s a fun place for keeping your gardening supplies.
