About This Home

An iconic Mexico home with a long history, 604 Teal Lake Road with initially built in 1930 in the Colonial revival style. Unique compared to modern homes, it's built of solid brick. It was added on to over the years many times, the latest being the addition of the west Great Room in the 1970s. Original home designs, along with plans for most of the additions are stored in the library cabinets; some are framed in the sitting room.
Notable recent improvements include complete kitchen renovation, updating each bathroom, moving laundry to second floor by the bedrooms,replacement of all but one window with modern energy efficient ones, replacement of front and side entry doors with modern efficient ones, replacement of old galvanized steel supply plumbing with new PEX pipes, new water softener newly shingled roof in 2016, exterior repainted in 2017, new protected gutters in 2018 and new Geocomfort geothermal heating and cooling system throughout the home's three zones in 2018. Where it would allow, each renovation and replacement was carefully selected to match the character and original style of the home.

The home started as the residence of the gardener and arborist for the Green Estate, however the next and longest residing occupant was the Lowe family. William Lowe was a prominent A.P. Green executive and his family lived here for 40-50 years, overseeing most of the home's expansions. The home is sometimes called the "Lowe House" for this reason. Mr. Lowe was also an avid big game hunter and attended several African safaris. A photo album of his safaris is in the library and a shoulder mount of an African Eland (large antelope) taken by him remains in the Great Room.
