The river flows into the southern end of Lake Superior's Keweenaw Bay. This is a Blue Ribbon trout stream, and because several remarkable falls are located along the Falls River it is an attraction that draws Baraga County Tourists. The Falls River was well named. There are a lot of small waterfalls along this river - By some counts there are a dozen falls, although some are quite small. The river has four main waterfalls, the Lower Falls just west of the Village, the Middle Falls, a half mile upstream (follow the path upstream that runs alongside a high bluff), the Un-named Falls by the US-41 bridge, and the largest is Power House Falls (about 1.5 miles south of the Village). This falls is 15-Feet High and 40-Feet Wide. There are many other drops of various sizes between Power House Falls and the Upper Unnamed Falls. The final three drops are located in the city itself, and there is a parking lot and a signed trail leading upstream from US-41 by the Falls River Bridge that takes you first to the Lower falls, and then to the Middle falls. The Upper Un-Named falls, a five foot drop, is just south of where US-41 crosses the Falls River. Spring Steelhead anglers report good bites on this river. If you don't fish, you can just relax and enjoy the sound of the flowing water! The Village of L'Anse is only minutes away. Here you can boat, fish and swim on the largest fresh water lake in the world. Fall color tours and hiking Little Mountain are popular and in winter there are cross country skiing and snowmobiling opportunities in the area. There is an older mobile home on the property that has little value. A driveway and level building site is in place for a new home. Power and Village utilities are available at the road side.
