The original part of the home was constructed in the 1950's of native stone and hemlock, with wings added later out of white pine from the Biltmore estate. Most of the doors in the home are from the 19th century; the main entry door is from about 1865 (with a beautiful carved angel at the base). The chimney is hand-stacked native stone. The bricks on the large covered front patio were made during the late 1800’s in Waynesville.
