I can just imagine Don Draper enjoying a cocktail in the open-plan living/dining room with a wall of windows overlooking the rear yard. This property has been in the same family since the late 1950's and it is an immaculately maintained time capsule from another era. Located on a quiet side street, yet within easy walking distance to the Jenkintown/Wyncote train station (with the best scheduled service to downtown Philadelphia of any suburban station, and also direct access on the Airport line), the house sits proud on it's nearly acre parcel. A large 2-car garage is tucked into the basement level, and a flagstone pathway leads up to the front door. A lovely salmon-colored brick surrounds all 4 sides of the house. One enters into a sunny atrium foyer (with a cool planter bed and a wall of windows!) and up 5 slate steps to the main living level. All of the bedrooms and the laundry are located on this main floor. The entire rear of the home is the living/dining room (36' x 15') with taller ceilings and a wall of windows looking out over the rear yard. A functioning greenhouse is accessed through the living area and is half the width of the house. A rear patio (with a pergola) is accessed through the dining area and there is a large storage shed tucked at the rear of the property. The kitchen was updated in the 1980's and the laundry was moved up from the basement at that time as well. It's a fully functional space with ample storage and direct access to the side yard. The bedroom wing is accessed via a paneled hallway (vintage cool) with an entire wall of clerestory windows (for light, yet providing privacy). The master suite is at the end, and has its own en-suite bathroom and two large closets. Two more bedrooms and a hall bathroom complete the main floor. Downstairs, the basement has the family room, a home office and the powder room. There is access to the side yard from the basement, and then access to the garage as well. The house is serviced by a gas-fired HVA/C system and central air is also throughout the home. One might want to update the house, but it's so vintage/retro that one could be just as happy to keep all the original mid-century details and share Martinis with friends in front of the fireplace! 1 year HSA Warranty included with the sale.
