This home is part of a small, irreplaceable, collection on Kauai, designed by Hart Wood. Wood came to Hawaii in the early 1900s to partner with famed architect, Charles Dickey. The lineage of the plantation era home represents a simpler time, one in which sugar reigned, and the focus of the worker housing was not on its architecture. That is until the 1930s when Lindsay Faye, manager of Kekaha Sugar, decided to improve on the plantation housing through the skill and vision of Hart Wood. This is a classic Wood design; a simple "T" layout for an open living/dining experience with the bedrooms and bathroom off to one side. The smooth finish - exposed stained concrete flooring and high ceilings help keep the home's temperature comfortable year 'round. A Hart Wood home is something of a collector's item that should be cherished for generations to come.
