About the Builder

Mark and Matt Ivey were introduced to the home building industry in 1984 when their father, Jake Ivey, began building homes in the Augusta area. Although they had the opportunity to work for their father after college, both brothers felt it was important to establish themselves independently and pursue other aspirations at the time. Mark went on to become Vice President of a statewide engineering firm, while Matt became a Vice President for a multi-national real estate firm. While both experienced success in their respective fields, the entrepreneurial spirit they inherited from their father remained strong. In 2004, they founded Ivey Residential. From the outset, Mark and Matt aimed to differentiate the company from the competition. They knew that, with their name attached to the business, they did not want to be known simply as the lowest price per square foot builder. Drawing on their prior professional success—Mark’s civil engineering degree and Matt’s master’s in real estate—they set out to create a system and environment that delivered higher-quality homes at competitive prices. Their approach included offering meaningful personalization options and streamlining the homebuying process. Despite the challenges faced by the homebuilding industry, including economic downturns and global pandemics, Ivey Residential has continued to thrive.
