The forest on the land is largely mixed wood with most of Maine's hardwood and softwood trees present. Topography on site ranges from 220 to 320± FASL. Turtle Brook meanders through the center of the land and forms a small pond and great wetland habitat. This ponds outflow enters Beech Hill Pond in Turtle Cove. Beech Hill Pond is one of Hancock Counties favorite lakes with 1,351 surface acres and depths exceeding 100 feet. This lake was the source of the state record lake trout of over 30 pounds that held until 2020.The lakes large size and depths make it a great lake for boating.
The town of Otis is located just east of Route 1 and borders the City of Ellsworth. It is a rural town yet is just a short drive to all the services to be had in Ellsworth. The full-time population of Otis is about 670.
