This may well be the best 2-bed 2-bath condo in the whole University Park Condominium, a historically significant landmark building designed by well-known architects I.M. Pei and Araldo Cossutta. An eco-friendly renovation a few years ago, by Elemental Green, breathed new life into unit #1029S. The #EcoRenovate project started with a top-floor unit, a large floor plan, and walls of windows offering lots of light and sweeping views of Lake Michigan and Hyde Park. The striking kitchen was achieved by first removing walls for a flexible open floor plan. Designers then used sustainably sourced, handmade Fireclay Tiles for the distinctive backsplash and floors, sleek Plyboo bamboo cabinets and moveable island from French Cabinetry, Dekton's beautiful sintered stone countertops, and all stainless steel appliances. Bamboo floors in the living room are sustainable, especially durable, and manufactured without using harmful chemicals. And since these photos were taken, new bamboo floors were added to both bedrooms, along with all new custom blackout shades, and NEW double pane windows throughout the whole unit. Both bathrooms were updated with more gorgeous ceramic tiles by Fireclay and high-end water-conscious fixtures including low-flow Nebia Spa Shower system, and a Kohler glass barn-door shower door in the ensuite bath. Custom closet systems are in the entryway and primary bedroom. (The closet in the 2nd bedroom was removed for more space but could easily be put back.) All 3 air conditioners were replaced in 2024. And much of the unit was recently re-painted. A prime garage parking space is included in the price! The association offers on-site management, 24-hour door staff security, laundry room, bike room, workout rooms, hospitality room, additional storage, and an outdoor swimming pool. It's investor-friendly and pet-friendly, too. The location can't be beat. It's close to the lakefront, parks, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, tons of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. There's easy access to Lake Shore Drive and many public transportation options for downtown and the University of Chicago (with a shuttle that stops right at the front door).
