Time spent at Mill Point on Starboard Creek is always an experience. The sights, smells and sounds created by the ever changing light and tides form memories sure to stay with you for a lifetime. Nearly surrounded by the salty waters found off the Point of Maine, this is the next best thing to island living! The narrow connecting causeway and nearly 360 degrees of view do give you the sense you are at sea. The cottage is off grid, so there are no power lines marring your view, but it does have the right to bring power in if desired. Built in 1910 and renovated and expanded in 2008, consistent loving care has been applied each passing year. The expansion and updates give it an open concept interior, with nooks and crannies in every corner worth exploring. Bring a good book, curl up with your morning tea or coffee, or just gaze out on the waters of the Atlantic, there's a space to dedicate to your favorite pastime. A wood stove provides cheer on cool mornings, or light the propane fireplace to provide consistent comfort. Outdoor spaces include several favorite spots for lounging, with a deck off the house, hammocks and chairs, and natural seats on ledges by the shore. An outbuilding offers a covered porch area, along with storage and a room for some of the mechanicals. Parking spots for 4+ cars can be found under the trees and at the top of the causeway. Mill Point is located a short drive from famous Jasper Beach, Roque Bluffs State Park, and local amenities and services in the shiretown of Machias. Canada is just over an hour drive, and Bar Harbor and Bangor are each two or so. The area abounds with natural beauty. And Mill Point is a special place worth the trip every time you visit.
