South Punta Gorda is quickly growing thanks to its proximity to the coastal city of Punta Gorda. The sprawling suburb is about 5 miles south, with direct highway access into the city. That brings it close to the historic, walkable downtown on Charlotte Harbor. "It's one of my favorite cities in the state. I love the outdoorsy and hometown feeling. It's a mix of different cultures," says Amy Mendez, a broker associate with Century 21 Sunbelt Realty. "I lived in Central Florida for 20 years before moving here six years ago, and I can't imagine why I didn't move here sooner." The area has a collection of planned subdivisions, with more to come.
