During the Revolutionary War, an oak tree in Quaker Meadows served as the rallying point for nearly 1,400 frontiersmen before they marched south and defeated British soldiers at the Battle of Kings Mountain. Nearly 250 years later, Quaker Meadows is no longer a secluded frontier, but forests and pastures cover much of the community’s hills and valleys. It’s primarily a residential area with a quiet atmosphere and the mountains of North Carolina to the west.
