Why Live in Long Lake

Long Lake is a planned residential suburb just off Glenwood Avenue near the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. “Out near the airport, it’s close to some of the more industrial areas,” says Kathy Pitney, a local real estate agent with Keller Williams Elite Realty. “Long Lake is right behind the Girl Scout building – which seems random, but it’s kind of a hallmark of that area – and it’s a mix of single-family houses and townhomes.” Long Lake is a relatively new subdivision; all of the community’s housing developments were built during the 21st century. The neighborhood is also convenient to one of Raleigh’s premiere destinations for outdoor recreation: “Long Lake is near William B. Umstead State Park, which is this massive swath of land in between the neighborhood and the airport – it’s a huge draw for that area,” Pitney says. With its convenient suburban location, relative affordability, access to the airport, and proximity to Raleigh’s largest parkland, Long Lake has become an increasingly desirable place to live over the past couple of decades. The quiet residential streets of Long Lake are lined with a mix of contemporary Craftsman-style single-family homes and townhouses
