Long Lake is a planned residential suburb just off Glenwood Avenue near the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. “Out near the airport, it’s close to some of the more industrial areas,” says Kathy Pitney, a local real estate agent with Keller Williams Elite Realty. “Long Lake is right behind the Girl Scout building – which seems random, but it’s kind of a hallmark of that area – and it’s a mix of single-family houses and townhomes.” Long Lake is a relatively new subdivision; all of the community’s housing developments were built during the 21st century. The neighborhood is also convenient to one of Raleigh’s premiere destinations for outdoor recreation: “Long Lake is near William B. Umstead State Park, which is this massive swath of land in between the neighborhood and the airport – it’s a huge draw for that area,” Pitney says.
