The community of Flying Hills fills a patch of land between Pennsylvania Route 10 and Interstate 176, but residents have views of rolling fairways and leafy tree canopies rather than asphalt and passing cars. The Flying Hills Golf Course and thick tree lines buffer the planned community south of Reading from the two roadways on either side of it. “It’s a great commuter neighborhood, but you don’t feel like you’re on the highway,” says Emily Gordon, a Realtor with Keller Williams Platinum Realty and a top seller in the community. In addition to a balance of commuter convenience and natural landscape, Flying Hills stands out for its variety of housing. That enables many residents to move multiple times without leaving the community, Gordon says. “If they start off in an apartment, they’re looking for a townhouse or a single-family home there after a few years.” Multiple developments were built in Flying Hills between the 1970s and ‘90s. They include apartment complexes, condo communities, rows of brick townhouses and a single-family subdivision of ranch homes and Colonial-inspired new traditional houses. Some homes have views of the Flying Hills Golf Course, while others back up to
