About Alan
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Alan Klatsky graduated from Gilman School and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to starting medical school, he took a year's sabbatical in 1985 to learn about real estate. During that year Alan obtained his Maryland real estate license and shadowed a prominent home builder to gain additional exposure to the business. Within a few months, he decided to build a spec house and started his award-winning Prestige Development Inc. The creative and financial success of his first home led to second and third opportunities resulting in the rapid growth of his company. Alan was determined to focus on real estate as a career rather than pursuing medical school to take over his father’s plastic surgery practice.
Over the years Alan branched out to land development as well as high-end custom homes. The land development projects included very large subdivisions where he took raw land and designed and installed infrastructure which enabled him to sell hundreds of finished lots to national builders. He started Prestige Management Company in order to manage the Homeowners Associations of his neighborhoods and started Community Utility Corporation as the arm to handle all the water and sewer infrastructure in his communities. Being a licensed realtor has been a natural extension of his building business and provides the opportunity to market and sell the homes he builds.
Recognized for the highest level of quality and professionalism in the real estate community, Alan intends to continue to build beautiful homes that will long outlive him, and in some small way, continue his legacy of focus, hard work, and excellence in all he does. Alan sees his work as extremely creative starting with a vision on paper and then bringing that vision to life to be enjoyed by future homeowners. Alan loves being a part of the real estate industry that touches the lives of so many people and revolves around the one key item that is the most important purchase a person will make in their lives.
Alan is a member of the Home Builders Association, on the Board of CareFirst, and a Patient Advocacy Committee member at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He is particularly proud of establishing The House For a Heart Foundation, where in 1992 he donated a house that was auctioned for charity and the proceeds went to Action for the Homeless. Alan enjoys travel and time with his partner of 22 years.
