About Amy

Amy Atkins and her husband Peter began wintering with their horses in Ocala 18 years ago. The warm climate and access to local competitions won them over, and they moved to Marion County permanently in 2003.

Amy is an Event rider, who has competed up to the Intermediate level and specializes in introducing young horses to the sport. She is also an Endurance rider who has competed successfully at the international level. Her husband Peter is a professional Event rider who rode for Team Australia in the 2010 World Games. They have a farm north of Ocala where they run a horse training business. Amy is dedicated to her clients and their relationships span many years. She is honest, detail-oriented, and always has a positive attitude.

Amy grew up in Woodstock, VT. During the summers she rode competitively in Eventing, Dressage, and Endurance. Winters was in the saddle as much as possible, but also managed to ski competitively all four years of high school. At Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire, she led the US Collegiate Equestrian Team to Gold at the Intercollegiate Nations Cup in Bern, Switzerland. Amy won the show jumping competition which qualified her to ride in Samur, France that summer in the Intercollegiate World Championships where she reached the semi-finals.

After their son Owen was born in 2007, Amy revisited her passion for Endurance riding, most recently competing in Tasmania, Australia riding in the 100-mile Quilty Cup Endurance Race! Starting at midnight, she completed the rigorous 100-mile race in 12 hours which included dodging kangaroos in the dark! Amy is a very diverse horsewoman and loves all aspects of the horse world which made Ocala the perfect place to settle. When Amy isn’t working she loves riding through the spectacular Goethe Forest, kayaking the many natural springs, or enjoying the vast biking trails that Ocala has to offer.

Amy truly enjoys working with real estate clients and she is proud to share all that Ocala has to offer with people looking to buy or relocate to this region.
