About Ben
I was born in Central Mississippi and raised in an outdoor family. My earliest memories are hunting and fishing with my father. It did not matter whether I was fishing in an oxbow of the Pearl River, running wild in a dove field, or sitting (not so quietly) in a duck blind in the Mississippi Delta: I knew I was at home.
Those early years exploring the great outdoors were what drove me to become a wildlife biologist. I graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Forest Resources; my degree was specialized in Wildlife Science (a childhood dream accomplished!). While pursuing this undergraduate degree, I started an outdoor and land management business, Walker Wildlife, which allowed me the opportunity to meet with private landowners and help them accomplish their land management goals. Originally, I primarily dealt with nuisance animal control and wildlife management, trapping beavers, coyotes, and other animals. As time progressed, I wrote management plans, constructed food plots, and performed tractor services on properties across the state.
I also obtained a Master of Business Administration (“MBA”) to further help landowners by blending my love of the outdoors with business administration and funds management.
In addition to owning Walker Wildlife, I have worked for over 15 years in the mortgage industry, where I have honed my skills of negotiating transactions, managing personnel, and helping folks achieve their lifelong dream of home and land ownership.
I am married to Brittany, and we have two kids, Kat and Benjamin. My happiness now comes from spending time with my family and recreating cherished childhood memories with my children. There is nothing more enjoyable than teaching children about the outdoors. And to no surprise as hunting ducks is a lifelong passion, I have a deep love for Ducks Unlimited and enjoy volunteering with my local chapter.
At Buck Commander Properties, I am proud to use my expertise as a Wildlife Biologist along with my tenured experience managing land and handling real estate transactions to help you sell or buy your next piece of property. Whether that property is bottomland hardwoods, pine plantations, agriculture or pastureland, or just an ole Mississippi River swamp, I am looking forward to helping you develop your personal paradise. After all, spending time outdoors is truly one of life’s greatest joys!
