I’ve had the good fortune of wearing many hats in my life; some of the most fun, came from my time with the Roanoke Police Department...One even required long hair and a braided goatee for an undercover gig.
Between the Police Department and my time in the US Navy, I’ve always believed in the importance of service. When I left the force, after 28 years, I wanted to be sure that I could find a way to continue serving others. That’s how I found real estate.
In the past, when I bought and sold houses of my own, I always signed the papers without a whole lot of knowledge of the process or of what I was agreeing to. My goal is to lead my clients out of that fog. I strive for ultimate transparency throughout the process of buying or selling a home—you deserve to know what questions to be asking and how seemingly small decisions may affect you in the long run of your sale or purchase.
My background has also taught me how to read people well; to anticipate their thoughts and movements. This is a skill that has proven incredibly useful in my real estate career. It’s incredible how much strong negotiation relies on anticipating the next move.
I love to be busy, but when I do find some down time, I typically head to the golf course with some MKB buddies, or escape to the shop for a little wood working therapy. But I find the ultimate time well-spent is with my wife Yvonne of 35 years and our 2 children, Corinne and Seth. Two wonderful grandsons also keep me on my toes.
Those hats I’ve worn and careers I’ve held have led me to find passion, many wonderful friendships, a vast travel repertoire, and my beautiful family. It doesn’t get much better than that.
