About Carmel
Carmel is a Maryland native and licensed realtor who combines a head for number crunching and investing with an eye for architecture and renovation. She has worked in investor accounting and acquisitions and run a computer consulting business. As a realtor, Carmel also draws on my expertise in buying, refurbishing, and renting out investment properties, and is able to advise clients how to do the same. A house can become a big source of income, and she’s always looking for solid properties and the best possible value for her clients.
Some houses have good bones, all you need to do is repaint the cabinets. Others require more work. Carmel can spot the difference. When she walks into a place, she just knows what needs to be done; from inexpensive, quick fixes, to big overhauls. It’s a system that has worked well for her, as she tends to keep tenants for years at a time.
Carmel’s always loved houses and analyzing different neighborhoods. I grew up around, remodeling projects and beautiful architecture, all of which drew her toward wanting to invest in properties of her own. Carmel’s dad and uncles ran the family-owned business Stefanelli Brothers, which dealt in ceramic and imported Italian tile. She’s lived in Darnestown, Capitol Hill, Potomac, Annapolis, and Alexandria. She spends hours on MRIS studying price differences: comparing, analyzing and choosing the best value.
Carmel has a broad knowledge base in business and accounting, stemming from her earlier career at Standard Federal, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. She can walk clients through the entire process, from the beginning of a home search to settlement, and beyond. It’s hard to think of another area that would compare in terms of all the recreations that’s so close by.
She spends a lot of time walking and fishing at the C&O Canal with her three kids. They go hiking at Sugarloaf Mountain and on the Appalachian Trail. Carmel’s also passionate about the environment, so they pick up trash alongside the Canal, and she has adopted a road in Montgomery County. At AveryHess, her clients benefit from a welcoming, full-service company, where you’re a part of the family. Carmel looks forward to doing business with you and guiding you every step of the way.
