About CAROL
Carol Dunning is Chief Legal Officer at Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty. As part of the senior management team, Carol provides counsel in areas of strategy, compliance, corporate transactions, litigation and regulatory matters. She is also an important resource in the day-to-day legal affairs of the brokerage, including the needs of its more than 950 real estate agents and sales managers who work out of 29 sales offices across Long Island and in Brooklyn and Queens.
The sole attorney on staff, Carol handles a broad variety of internal corporate work and the leasing for the company’s branch offices and provides counsel in all manner of disputes and complaints, administrative proceedings and arbitrations. She is charged with legal compliance and risk management for all of the sales advisors including extensive training and compliance with the Fair Housing Laws and professional codes of ethics.
Carol joined Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty in 2020 as its General Counsel. She previously worked in private practice for close to 30 years with her primary concentration in real estate and business law matters. Carol has a wealth of experience in residential transactions as well as in commercial acquisitions and sales, leasing, and asset sales and purchases.
Active in her faith, Carol served on the Saint Mary’s High School Advisory Board (3 of them as Board Chair) for 10 years and for 7 years on the Saint Mary’s Elementary School Advisory Board. She also led the Saint Mary’s High School Gaels Parents Association Leadership Committee for several years and was the Vice President of the Saint Mary’s Elementary School PTO for 2 years. She remains an active volunteer for the Church of Saint Mary in Manhasset, NY, and together with her husband received the church’s Magnificat Award for service in 2021.
Carol is a graduate of Boston College Law School, class of 1990, and earned her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987.
