Native Charlottean. Graduate from West Mecklenburg High School and attended East Carolina University where played college baseball. Drafted in 7th round of MLB Draft and went on to have a 14-year professional career playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Florida Marlins, Hiroshima Carp, Washington Nationals, and Anaheim Angels.

In 2021 completed degree from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in University Studies with a focus on Wellness Advocacy and Human Behavior.

Married to college sweetheart, Katie, in 2005, and now live in Waxhaw with 4 daughters. Loves to play golf and coach a group of talented softball players for Team NC Baylog/Tracy as well as the Marvin Ridge High School Softball team.
