Originally from Michigan, Darrin was drawn to the culture and the mountains of Western North Carolina when he moved here with his family in 2007. He and his now consider Haywood County home, and they love it here for a variety of reasons: the mild climate, the fantastic people, and the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. His daughter Maddy graduated from NC State in 2022 with a degree in Environmental Science and is now setting out for a career in her field. As far as hobbies go, having been here 15+ years, Darrin has hiked many of the wonderful trails of WNC, yet has many more to hike for the first time.
