About David
KMS PARTNERS: DAVID WEBER PROFILE
We’re justly proud of the diverse backgrounds and intriguing back stories of every KMS Partner.
But we must admit, only one of us was a rock ‘n’ roll drummer signed by the legendary Clive Davis.
David Weber is that guy. (He’s also the only guy on our talented team -- but more on that later.)
He grew up in Massachusetts (and has the accent to prove it). But he spent 20 years in California, including a “good run” on drums for Copperhead, a legendary San Francisco band that almost hit the big time. (Unfortunately, Davis was fired from Columbia Records shortly after signing the group.)
David headed to Hollywood, where he owned a recording studio until the early 90's. After a year in Hawaii he moved back east, for a job in the music industry. He lived in Weston, got married, and in 1995 embarked on a major career change. He gave up recording, and turned to real estate.
From the start, David’s engaging personality and calming approach helped him succeed. “Some people get lost in the process” of buying and selling, he notes. “I do my best to keep my clients focused on the end goal.”
But a few years ago he realized that to market homes the way he wanted, he needed to join a team.
“We complement each other,” he says of his partners at KMS. “For example, I'm lousy at staging a home and my partners are really good at it so they are always there to help me. My strengths are patience, calmness, and helping overcome challenges to get a transaction to the closing table." As for the challenges: “It’s all about offering a different perspective, and finding a solution to problems,” he says.
Sometimes, for example, clients find it difficult leaving their home especially when downsizing. “We have a good team, and vendor who can help get them through that transition.”
Another challenge: an impasse when a buyer wanted the washer/dryer, but the seller wanted to keep it. “I’ll buy you a new washer/dryer,” David offered. The deal got done.
Like all KMS partners, David is deeply involved in his community. An 18-year member of the Weston Kiwanis Club, he volunteers at half-marathons, the Memorial Day fair and wine tasting events -- raising money in order to give it away.
After playing for a decade with Connecticut’s well-known Old School Revue, David recently hung up his drumsticks. That makes him KMS Partner’s only former rock star -- but he’s still the only male in the group.
“It never really comes up,” he says. “A good agent is a good agent, regardless of gender. We really are a great team, and we all work well together. There’s 120 years of collective experience among us. That’s a huge asset for any client.”
He adds, “There’s nothing better than having a contented client reach out after closing, shake your hand and say, ‘Thank you for helping me get through this.’ Buying and selling are huge, life-changing decisions.”
Kind of Like leaving rock ‘n’ roll, for the equally challenging and fulfilling world of real estate.
