While not practicing real estate, you will find Derek volunteering with the Local and State Realtor Associations in various roles. Current and prior appointments include 2021-2024 Director for Florida Realtors & the Realtor Association of Sarasota Manatee, Finance Committee Member, 2024 Vice Chair of Professional Development Committee, Chair of the local Young Professional Network in 2020 and Chair of the Member Engagement committee in 2017, as well as a past graduate of the 2015 RASM Leadership Institute.

Originally born in Texas, Derek spent most of his life in Florida, growing up in the Orlando area and moved to Sarasota in 2013 after graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor's in Finance in 2008.
