Diane was a pleasure to work with. I was a first-time homebuyer and it took me some time to find a house that fit my needs. I toured homes with Diane for about 2 months before finding my current home. She took me to tour every home that I was interested in and was always on time to showings. When it came to making offers, Diane was quick, knowledgeable, professional, and she answered any and every question that I had along the way. When my offer was accepted on my current home, Diane advised me on the steps to take to ensure a smooth closing, she attended my inspection alongside me, and went to extensive lengths to advocate for me when we ran into a few issues with the seller before closing. I cannot recommend her enough! If you want an agent who will truly put you first and streamline your home buying process, Diane is that agent.

Winter 2021. I don’t have to tell you we were at the beginning of a Global Pandemic the previous year. Masks, hand sanitizers, and social distancing signs were everywhere. But my fiance and I decided to buy a house because it was time for a more substantial residence, and the interest rates were at a thirty-year low. Diane McDougald, who I met through civic engagement and who was a good friend, has just become a licensed realtor. I knew she would be the perfect person because she was a consummate professional, highly driven, and low-key. Diane initially would email me all kinds of house listings. These subsequently tapered off because I was finding houses I liked and sending them to her!

Diane was quick to respond to our calls and texts. We visited some homes, but they needed to suit our preferences. There was a seller’s market with lines of buyers and realtors; bidding wars were prevalent. We continued to look during those snowy, dark days. Diane showed us roughly half a dozen houses and knew that if we saw something we liked, we had to move quickly.

A Colonial house had a price reduction. I recalled seeing pictures of this house; the curb appeal did not match the other homes on the street. We went inside the house and were pleasantly surprised with the new flooring, paint, and rooms. However, my fiance spotted an updated Cape Cod house listing with a fully furnished basement. I was ready to make an offer on the Colonial, but my fiance wanted to see the Cape. Diane said, “I will let ya’ll figure it out; call me tomorrow.”

We made an offer on the Colonial, and the seller quickly accepted it. Another potential buyer and his realtor were outside the house, and my fiance informed him that he had just made an offer on his house. Diane later told us that we were lucky to have put a deposit on the house because it would have been gone. We selected the Colonial house because of the idyllic quiet neighborhood, and we have no regrets. My fiance and I focused on landscaping and installed flower boxes on our large porch. The house now has curb appeal and a homey feel on the inside.

Our experience working with Diane was phenomenal. She was knowledgeable, took time to research, and was consistently energetic. I recommend Diane McDougal without hesitation. It was a positive experience, and we are honored to be her first client!
