Dirk Montgomery

Dirk served in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam era and earned two Air Force Commendation Medals for Meritorious Service while stationed in Perivolaki, Greece, and Uijongbu, South Korea. He left the Air Force in July 1979 having attained the NCO rank of Staff Sergeant. He began his career in the oilfield with Martin-Decker in 1980 as Shop Electronics Technician. During his 32+ years with National Oilwell Varco, he held various management positions both domestically and internationally, including Mid-Continent Area Manager, Western U.S. Regional Sales Manager, Southern U.S. Regional Manager, International Sales & Service Manager, Area Sales Manager – Middle East, and Director of Offshore Sales – Middle East & North Africa. During this time, Dirk was a member and avid supporter of the International Association of Drilling Contractors and Society of Petroleum Engineers. In addition, he served on numerous fundraising committees for United Way. In 2011, Dirk left NOV to begin building and operating ProHaul Transports, LLC. ProHaul became a phenomenally successful and well-known saltwater hauling company comprising of approximately 100 employees and 25 tractor trailer rigs. In late 2012, Hastings Equity Group purchased ProHaul Transports, LLC and Dirk stayed on as a consultant for approximately 6 months. After retiring from the oilfield, National Oilwell Varco contacted him and asked him to come back to collaborate with them. He became Director of Offshore Sales – South Korea and later was named Director of Business Development – South Korea. During this 2-year period, he rotated every 3 weeks between his home in Elk City and Pusan, South Korea. As the oilfield business began to decrease, Dirk took an early retirement package offered by NOV, and retired once again in 2015. He was able to stay retired for approximately two years but grew restless not being involved with people and the sales market. Today, he is a proud member of the Western Oklahoma Realty sales team.
