About Dusty
As a lifelong native of Western North Carolina, Dusty Allison was born with an innate love for this mountainous landscape. As a kid, watching his family buy 15 acres of wooded swampland and transform it by hand into a dream property planted the seeds for my love of land and real estate. He first made Asheville home in 1993 to attend University of North Carolina-Asheville where he witnessed first-hand the city evolve from a boarded-up downtown to the creative and bustling destination that it is today. After graduating, he moved a short distance away to the lifestyle mecca of Brevard NC to help pioneer a new K-8 school with an emphasis on experiential and hands-on learning. Those years also helped to hone his professional skills as a leader, active listener, and negotiator while he served on the Focus 2020 Visioning Project which brought together many diverse voices and stakeholders in Brevard and Transylvania County to help plan the future of the town’s growth and development.
During his time in Brevard, he had the great fortune to meet my future wife, Amy, 20 years ago. Only three months after their wedding, they took a public-facing role together with Boulder, CO-based Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. Sponsored by a number of large brands in the outdoor recreation and lifestyle industries, the two of them lived on the roads of America for three years while traveling across all of the lower 48 teaching and training diverse groups of public land organizations, governmental land management agencies, and various outdoor lifestyle brands.
In 2007, after experiencing great adventures across the country, they knew that Asheville was where we wanted to return to find community, sink their roots, and welcome their now 9-year old son, Bridger, into the world. They bought their home in the heart of what is now one of the most popular, walkable, and bustling neighborhoods in the city: West Asheville. For eight years, he extended his love of WNC and the Blue Ridge mountains into his work as a media sales executive and as Digital Publisher for Blue Ridge Outdoors, the largest outdoor and active lifestyle magazine on the East Coast. Those years of working closely with his clients across the Southeast and nationwide greatly advanced his knowledge and skillset with advertising, social media campaigns, all facets of digital marketing, and crafting a product’s story that compels and sells.
Buying or selling a home is not only a complex and confusing transaction for many, but also an emotional and psychological challenge. Whether you're buying your first home or selling one loaded with years of memories, you want someone to be by your side to help navigate through the choppy waters to make your experience smooth and easy to understand coupled with maximum gain for yourself and your family. Dusty's life experience as a communicator, educator, and marketing professional, along with his deep and extensive first-hand knowledge of Asheville and the Western North Carolina region, will help make your real estate dreams and goals a reality.
