Needing a fast sale of my father’s house due to his health decline and need for long term care facility costs – and with me being six states away – Fred Gomberg managed our house sale in Lawrenceville / Lawrence Township perfectly for our circumstances. I was warned about realtors who encourage you to overspend on repairs so that they reap the benefit of the sale, but Fred completely interrupted this narrative. Never having sold a house before, Fred was supportive in my learning curve, taking the time to explain each step in the process, offering balanced advice with regard to repairs verses as-is elements in the house given our timeline and needs. He responded quickly to any question I had by phone or email and never made me feel insecure about things I didn’t know or fully understand. I was not able to fly in to manage many of the inspections or services – and Fred stepped in to coordinate and be present when needed. It was a comfort that he lived in the area, knew the local community well, and had his own list of service referrals I could utilize in a pinch. He priced the house to encourage interest across two financial brackets, brought in a staging company to give the house the highest polish possible given some of the elements we chose not to enhance, and ran a weekend Open House series that generated incredible interest and multiple legitimate offers – well above asking price!! – that led to a contract the first week on the market. Moreover, he checked in with me on how my dad was doing each step of the way. A pragmatic realtor with heart – thank you Fred Gomberg!!

Fred was the best realtor we could have possibly asked for. He was very patient with us when we toured over 40 houses to find what we did and didn’t like in a house. He asked so many great questions on those housing tours. Questions I wanted to know the answer to but didn’t know what to ask until I heard it. It has been two weeks since my house in Lawrence was sold and my wife and I are packing up and cleaning out. Fred Gomberg guided us through the whole process, from the initial meeting to discuss current market conditions, listing price, conditions of sale and steps involved, right up through the closing. Fred helped explain the myriad steps involved with wetlands, private well and septic, and the mandated testing required for selling older homes.
Fred was always available by phone to answer questions and easy concerns, and his subtle sense of humor helped smooth the rough spots as the sale progressed. His consistent communication with the buyer's agent and with my real estate lawyer meant that decisions were timely and necessary paperwork completed. If you are looking to sell or purchase a home in Lawrenceville, NJ, Fred Gomberg is the BEST Realtor out there. Allow me to share with you my experience, and my story with Fred. When you’re selling or buying, there are a ton of calls that go back & forth. Fred always returns my calls, which is a big plus for me. When I needed facts or figures, he would put together a spreadsheet before the end of the day and hand deliver it, which was very impressive. If I didn’t understand the lawyer-like wording of the closing contracts, Fred took the time to explain it. When Fred & I first met, I had a timeline in mind that I wanted to meet. I had been working very hard to be ready to list it. When I met Fred I told him to come over & will talk, if we decide to work together to bring your For Sale sign I wanted it up on the yard before he left. He listened & brought it with him & it was in my yard, as I requested. He helped me list it & within a week, we had a huge, successful open house. We had two offers on the first day, both above asking. Might I add he worked hard at the open house? Giving a tour to everyone who came. Prior to that, It was a lot of work on my end to get the house ready to sell. My worry was finding the right Realtor, and Fred was fantastic. When I sat with Fred and told him my goals, what I must have, and what I could negotiate, he was right there, took notes, and I never had to repeat myself. He remembered what I was looking for in my new home. I have to say, honestly, what I appreciate most is his dry-wit personality. At times, things can be stressful & he always made me laugh. I would tease him that I arrived first when house hunting. It’s the little things that make the stress a lot less. I would call him for something, and he might answer Domino Pizza. So I’d order extra cheese to go. I have a elderly mom & when I help her walk it sometimes looks like we’re dancing, so Fred would sing as mom & I walked together, it was very funny. These things all make Fred one of a kind. Truthfully I tell you Fred is the best out there, none compare. He’s my lifetime realtor till he decides to retire or he gets tired of my jokes. Fred is from the Lawrenceville area & knows it well. I remember him pointing out all the homes he sold. To be completely honest, I was going through some tough times and had just lost two people, and my mom had a major stroke. I had just asked God to help me the day before when I ran into Fred. We recently worked with Fred Gomberg to purchase a new home in Mercer County, NJ. Working with Fred as a buyer's agent was a fantastic experience. We were moving from out of state and had a very specific list of wants and needs, and Fred and his staff did a great job of keeping an eye on MLS listings and sending us everything that we might be interested in.

Fred is very easy-going and low pressure - it took us almost a year and a half to find the right house and we never felt any pressure to make offers on properties that weren't what we wanted. At the same time, Fred did make us aware of similar properties that almost met our needs, which helped us focus and narrow down on what we really wanted. Fred's communication was fantastic, he almost always answered the phone when we called, and if he couldn't he would call back promptly. He was also extremely flexible about scheduling calls late in the evening, which was helpful for us as parents, and on many occasions we stayed up late on Zoom calls reviewing listings. When looking at a listing, Fred would go the extra mile to pull up documents such as the property history and the seller's disclosure and review them with us, making sure we really understood as much about the property as possible.

We also benefited from the larger Berkshire-Hathaway family, as Fred was able to recommend services such as mortgage brokers and title companies that he had worked with in the past, which really helped make the loan qualification and closing processes smooth. And on rare occasions when we wanted to look at a property and Fred wasn't available, another agent from his team met us and did a great job in his stead. Finally, Fred knows a huge number of people in real estate in the area, and we were often able to benefit from his personal connections - a quick call to a colleague and he could explain why a price was reduced or a property removed from the market. When we did make an offer, Fred and the seller's agent (whom he knew) were in constant communication allowing final negotiations to proceed quickly and smoothly.

Buying a new home and moving to a new state is a daunting process. Every step of the way, Fred was there to provide us with prompt information and advice. We couldn't have done it without him, and we feel very fortunate to have been able to benefit from his services.

From the very beginning - an accidental matching made by Zillow - Fred was there by our side, offering us expertise, support, but never judgment.
Fred always put our schedules first, and accompanied us to each of our viewings with a mix of humility, curiosity, and professionalism. He helped lighten the mood but always respected the seriousness of the investment we were looking to make. From pre listing my house to the final sale Fred was there at every turn in the road. Fred was very helpful in recommending suppliers to help with getting the house ready for sale, making sure the photography got the perfect shot for each room. With the Governor shutting down the state the day of my closing Fred still managed to work with the attorneys, did the final walk through the day of closing with the buyers and went to the closing to make sure everything went smoothly. From the first moment we spoke with Fred and told him we were ready to sell, he was “all over it”. He immediately began coaching us on the best way to present our home to potential buyers, helped price our home appropriately based on extensive market research and helped the photographer take amazing pictures of our home during the day and at night.
