About Fred
Fred was born and raised on Maui and remembers riding the Kahului Railroad train across the suspension bridge at Malika Gulch to Haiku around 1959 and remembers driving over the Pali Tunnel on the old Lahaina Road prior to the tunnel completion.
He often visited the plantation camps on the north shore while his dad, a sugar plantation doctor saw his patients for $1 per visit!
Fred went bare foot every day until high school.
Water surrounds the island of Maui and Fred’s dedication to water sports evolved with his four siblings who all had their own Balsa wood surfboards, El Toro Sailboats and Motorboats to play in the waters off Kahului Harbor in between daily swimming workouts.
At age 17, Fred followed his dream to swim with Mark Spitz for his senior year in Santa Clara High during which time Mark and Fred were the first High Schoolers to win National Championships in Dallas, Texas where Fred became the fastest backstroke in America at age 17.
Fred was a silver medalist at the 1967 Pan American Team and became a multiple NCAA and American record holder. Fred was Swim Team Captain at Stanford University.
Years later, Fred continued his winning ways in another water sport breaking the world speed record in 1983 in Weymouth, England on a windsurfer to become the fastest windsurfer in the world although that record held for only 3 years.
After receiving a degree in economics from Stanford University in 1971, Fred came home to Maui, where he began his real estate career in 1973.
Fred understands the diversity of the island and its people. He worked in real estate offices across Maui including Kahului, Kihei, Kaanapali, Lahaina, Paia and from his current home in Kula.
He was on the ground floor selling many condominiums, subdivisions and has represented many large land sales and hundreds of homes and condominiums over his extensive career. Fred has many exceptional stories for his clients to make them feel at home.
He became a teacher for real estate conventions on the mainland sharing his secrets of the systems, language, and team training with many realtors.
This knowledge has helped him become one of the most successful realtors on Maui with a history of exceeding his clients' expectations.
Fred loves Maui and enjoys sharing his enthusiasm, positive attitude and local knowledge with those who live here or are planning to move here.
Love Life. Live Maui.
