Garner was born and raised in Birmingham, only leaving for four years to attend the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in History and a minor in English. While in college, she was active in her sorority Kappa Delta and graduated cum laude with a 4.0 in her major. After college, Garner worked at the law firm of Maynard, Cooper and Gale in Birmingham as a paralegal, to gain legal experience, with the intention of attending law school. While working at the law firm, she was asked to coordinate the recruiting program, which ended her legal aspirations and began a five-year career at Maynard, Cooper and Gale as their Director of Recruitment.
Garner is married to attorney JT Thompson, who is a partner with the law firm of Lightfoot, Franklin and White. JT grew up in Birmingham, as well. Both graduated from Mountain Brook High School. JT continued his studies at the University of the South in Sewanee, as well as the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he got his master’s degree in Journalism. He loved school so much that he decided to further his academic career at Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham. They have two children, Whatley and Liza. Both children attend Mountain Brook schools and are very active in the Birmingham United Soccer Association.
Garner is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Birmingham Association of Realtors and is a long-time member of the Real Estate Club of Excellence. With 11 years of experience, Garner has helped many buyers and sellers with their real estate needs in areas all over the Birmingham area. The majority of her business has been done in Mountain Brook, Homewood, Vestavia, Forest Park, Redmont, Hoover/Ross Bridge, Crestline Park and other metro locations.
