About Gary

Gary was introduced to the Hudson Valley in 1988 as a weekender from Manhattan. Captivated by its beauty and quality of life, he decided to live here full time within a year. His love for antique houses began with the renovation of a converted church in Tivoli. It was published in House Beautiful - Jan. 1994 . Fueled by his own frustrating home buying experience, he decided to reinvent himself from musical theatre actor to realtor. He got his real estate license in 1990. In 1993, he founded Gary DiMauro Real Estate (GDMRE) and opened his first office in the then undiscovered Village of Tivoli. Gary was an integral player in Tivoli's renaissance and realized the importance of preserving and energizing our historic Hudson Valley towns. He opened his second office in the City of Hudson during its renaissance in 2003, and a third location in the up-and-coming Village of Catskill in 2007. A fourth office in the Village of Rhinebeck opened in August 2014 followed by a fifth in the Historic Waterfront District of the City of Kingston in 2020. In 2021, GDMRE proudly partnered with Four Seasons Sotheby's International Realty making Gary EVP and a NY Partner overseeing the Hudson Valley offices. Gary and his wife, Kathryn (the former Creative Director of GDMRE), have happily completed a 12-year renovation of their 1830's farmhouse in Milan that they share with their sweet pit bull mix-breed puppy, Henry. It was published in Country Living magazine in April 2012 and Upstate House magazine in 2013 . Gary is also the proud recipient of a 2020-2021 Tony Award for "Best New Play" as a co-producer of the two-part epic play, "The Inheritance", by Matthew Lopez.
