I have spent the better part of four decades living in Rancho Cucamonga. Growing up here, I remember the vineyards and orange groves, the old Pacific Electric Rail Line which was still used for hauling loaded railcars between San Bernardino and Upland. I remember being a 5-year-old listening to the trains as they went over bridge at Vineyard Ave. just a few hundred feet from my front yard. I attended local schools, played Little League T-Ball and Baseball at Red Hill, Heritage and Beryll Parks. I went to Etiwanda High School and rode my bike to school down Highland Ave. before the 210 Freeway was built, and I was there on the first day they opened the first section for traffic. Now I am raising my seven children in the house I grew up in, in the neighborhood I grew up in.
