Before joining Ek Real Estate Jan was an administrative assistant for the North Lyon County Schools for 10 years and 1 year in the Emporia School District. She was closing agent and office manager when starting at Ek but quickly added on realtor to her job description. She continues to move forward with her career with becoming co-owner and an associate broker.

Jan is married to Mike Utech, with 3 sons and 4 grandchildren who are a reliable source of pride to her. She is active in her church, Messiah Lutheran, as well as school and community activities with her family.
