From small-town Georgia roots to serving his country and building a thriving real estate career, Jason Barker's story is deeply woven into the fabric of Richmond Hill. After graduating high school Jason attended the University of Georgia in 1995 and graduating from Brewton Parker College with a business degree in 2001, Jason didn't just jump straight into real estate - though he did get his license in 2002. Instead, the events of 9/11 called him to a higher purpose. He joined the National Guard and soon found himself deployed to Iraq, where his service earned him several distinguished honors including a Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and Iraq Campaign Medal.
Back home, Jason put his real estate expertise to good use, working with the Army Corps of Engineers to help military families find homes through their assistance program. In 2013, he took on a new challenge: joining forces with his mom to run Magnolia Coastal Properties, LLC. In 2022 Jason’s mom, Linda Barker, passed the torch and Jason along side his wife Ashlee purchased Magnolia Coastal Properties keeping the small town boutique real estate company alive.
But Jason's commitment to Richmond Hill goes way beyond business. You'll find his fingerprints all over the community - from past servings on the Tax Assessors appraisal board and the Coastal Bryan Tree Foundation. And if you've ever enjoyed the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival, you can thank Jason too - he's been a key player on several of the Chamber's festival committees.
Jason is married, to his partner in the business, Ashlee Connell Potts Barker. They were married in 2005 before he deployed to Iraq. They live happily in Richmond Hill since 1987 with their daughter Charlotte.
