Jay Kendall was born in Franklin, Kentucky. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. Jay was assigned to Fort Drum New York's 10th Mountain Infantry Division and was fortunate to have gotten to see many parts of the world during his tour of duty. After his enlistment with the Army was up, he moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky and attended Western Kentucky University, double-majoring in Political Science and History. Upon Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A), he attended Nashville School of Law and received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence (J.D.) in 2001. Jay began the practice of law in a general practice law firm, where he remained for the first two years of his legal career. He then accepted a position as a litigation attorney with a nationally recognized law firm, a position which he held for 8 years. In this position, Jay served as litigation counsel for many of the nation's leading banking and lending institutions. His primary focus was in assisting lenders and borrowers with working out loan modification agreements, short sales, and deeds-in lieu of foreclosure, so as to help borrowers to avoid bankruptcy and foreclosure proceedings. He also served as a closing and title attorney for the firm's closing and title divisions. Jay served in the US Army and Army Reserve for a combined 21 years of service, retiring in August 2013. He achieved the rank of Captain and proudly served in the Middle East in support of both Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom from June 2005 through February 2007. Jay served in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as the Company Commander of a Mobile Recon and Redistribution Team (MRRT) and later served as an Operations Officer on the Staff of the Commanding General. He is married to his wife Michelle, an area manager for an engineering and consulting firm. She was offered the opportunity of a lifetime with a promotion to area manager of the company's Orlando office in 2012, which prompted their move to Florida and the Orlando area. The first time they came to Orlando for a site visit, they instantly fell in love with the City Beautiful and the surrounding area and made the decision to call Orlando home. They are residents of Cypress Landing in the Dr. Phillips area and have two energetic and fun-loving Labs named Samson (Sam) and Delilah (Lila), who love their new Florida home. Jay enjoys almost any outdoor activity and especially enjoys working out and running. His real estate experience includes previous investments in and owning rental properties as a landlord. Jay also purchased, remodeled, marketed, and re-sold properties prior to joining Watson Realty. Military life has given him a great, first-hand understanding of the difficulties associated with moving from city to city, state to state, and even country to country.
