Jeffrey Rothbart

Mr. Rothbart founded Stack Real Estate, LLC (“Stack”) to focus on commercial real equity investments, development, capital markets advisory and expert witness services. Since its inception, Stack has participated in over $1.5 billion in commercial real estate transactions.

In addition to his responsibilities at Stack, Mr. Rothbart is also the Head of Investments for Peer Realty and a Principal at both Birchwood Health Care Properties, LLC and Insignia Homes. In his roles for Stack, Peer and Birchwood, Mr. Rothbart is currently overseeing the syndication of over $65 million in real estate investments, including two residential subdivision developments, retail centers and multiple senior living acquisitions and development opportunities.

Prior to forming Stack, Mr. Rothbart was the Vice President of Capital Markets at EPN Investment Management. At EPN, he focused his efforts on debt and equity procurement for EPN’s global platform. Mr. Rothbart was also the Vice President of Finance and Asset Management for EDT Retail Trust (f/k/a ASX: EDT) whereby he was responsible for corporate finance, property valuations, asset management and quarterly financial reporting. EDT Retail Trust was recapitalized and then privatized by EPN. EPN then sold the EDT portfolio to a JV of Blackstone and DDR (NYSE: DDR) whereby EPN realized an IRR well in excess of 20%.

Prior to joining EPN, Mr. Rothbart was Managing Director at Superior Street Capital, LLC where he worked on the recapitalization of distressed Tenant-In-Common deals and the monetization of real estate related financial derivatives. Mr. Rothbart was also a co-founder and Principal at Boulder Net Lease Funds, LLC. During his tenure at Boulder Net Lease Funds, he raised over $250 million in equity and debt to acquire office and industrial assets on a nationwide basis. At Boulder, his responsibilities included fund formation, capital markets, acquisitions, asset management and dispositions. Boulder’s realized returns generated a 25.5% net IRR and 1.8x equity multiple for investors.

Prior to forming Boulder Net Lease Funds, Mr. Rothbart practiced real estate and tax law at a Chicago-based law firm and worked in the legal department of Related Midwest, one of Chicago’s largest multi-family developers.

Additionally, Mr. Rothbart has been an expert witness in real estate related litigation matters exceeding $300 million and has published over 40 articles on the commercial real estate markets. Mr. Rothbart is LEED-AP for New Construction (v2.2) and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Mr. Rothbart received his Bachelors of Arts degree from Emory University, his Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law and his Master of Law degree in Taxation from Northwestern University.
