Selling or Buying a home is usually the largest financial transaction in a lifetime, you want to have a Realtor who’s going to be there, who’s done this before and can tell you it’s going to be okay, and to sit across from you and look you in the eye and let you know how this process is going to go.
Some people want to buy or sell without an agent - I talk to those people every day, and that's alright.

There's are several things people use the help of others with because they don't know how to do it, automotive work, electrical work, plumbing, woodworking, painting, computer work, etc, etc.
Buying a house isn't any different than these other things one might not know how to do. In addition, agents often have established relationships with title companies, lenders, repair companies... All to make sure your process goes smoothly.
