Jim Makens

Jim founded The Makens Company in 1994 after attaining executive level positions at two of North Texas’ largest commercial brokerage firms. He has assembled a first class team of brokers, administrators, and managers to provide full service real estate services to clients throughout the DFW area. Jim has provided tenant representation, landlord representation, land brokerage, and development services to innumerable clients during his 25 years in the business. Some of Jim’s successful transaction include a campus redevelopment with UICI a publicly traded insurance company, the tenant representation of Southtrust bank and CVS Pharmacies, the development of several grocery-anchored shopping centers, the lease up of large nationally anchored power centers, as well as many others.
Additionally, Jim has received numerous awards from the real estate community including the Charles D. Tandy Realtor Leadership award in 2007. He has served on several boards and advisory committees including the Advisory Board of State National Bank, the Advisory Board of Harris Methodist Hospital, the President of the Society of Commercial Realtors Fort Worth, and the President of the Economic Advisory Committee for the City of North Richland Hills. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Accounting from the University of North Texas.

Jim is actively involved in the International Council of Shopping Centers, the North Texas Land Council, the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors, CCIM, the Texas Real Estate Commission, the Society of Commercial Realtors, and the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors.
