About Joan
Specialties: Buyer's Agent, Listing Agent, Relocation, farm, ranch, residential
For 30 years Joan has been active in the North Central Florida business community, listening to clients and helping them achieve their goals and dreams. Now, as an active Realtor, she is assisting families and individuals in navigating the sale of a current home, or the purchase of a new home. Her background is diverse. Her upbringing in Gross Pointe Park Michigan on the shores of Lake St. Claire, gave her an appreciation for lakes and rivers, and all water sports. An accomplished equestrian, she rode the Eastern Circuit showing in F.E.I. and Hunter Jumper classes representing the Grosse Pointe Hunt Club. Her curiosity led her to obtain a bachelor's degree in Botany with a minor in Forestry from Michigan Technological University located in Michigan's stunningly beautiful upper peninsula, and a Master's Degree in Horticulture from Purdue University. Also at Purdue, she worked in bacterial genetics. Then at the University of Florida, researched the biological control of aquatic weeds, and assisted in developing a genetic engineering project. Her science background yields uniquely analytical approach to her real estate business. After leaving the University of Florida, Joan and husband Ross, developed Prange's Plantscapes and Florist. Starting with just a few weekend event plant rentals, expanding into interior plantscaping in homes and businesses, then adding drapings, lighting and flowers to their event decor, they developed the business into the thriving event based floral company that they still operate today. As an event planner, and decor specialist, Joan can lead her sellers and buyers through the home evaluation process, having a developed a keen eye for detail. Music plays an important role in her life, and she is a member of the worship team at Faith Presbyterian Church. She also dabbles in playing her flute and French horn, though never in public! Within the church year, she directs the music program for Vacation Bible School, and assists with the annual Live Nativity, a gift to the Gainesville community during the Christmas season. Her love for children led she and good friend Chasalee Hurley, to establish a Story Telling Club at Stephen Foster Elementary School, where kids would develop their own written story and then tell it (with embellishments!) to the Club members. She has participated as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Girl's Club, now the Girl's Place.
She loves the country life and now raises Suri Alpacas and trees with her husband Ross, along with pet goats, chickens, and guineas.
