Her background includes growing up in England, and residency in three countries: Canada, the United Kingdom and, for the last thirty years, the United States. She has many contacts in Europe, and a home on Lake Trasimeno in Umbria, Italy, where she and her family spend every summer vacation. Her French, German and Italian language skills enable her to work comfortably with an international clientele. She helped to design and build her own post and beam constructed home on the Island, completed in 2004. On Bainbridge Island Joanna is an active member of the community, where she has lived and raised her three children since 1998.
