In spite of the cultural awkwardness, 13 hours of difference separating us plus sets of 2 power of attorney’s documents; one buy and one to sell, prepared and signed by local witnesses and attested by the US Embassy here in Manila and then hurriedly fed-exd the same day to the respective parties. As a first time home-buyer repatriating after many years overseas, I relied heavily on John, and he really came through for me. He was so organized, thorough, and a great communicator, all of which was critical as I had a short window of availability to look at places and close. He was very helpful in wading through all the contractual issues, titles and other administrative activities that could have been overwhelming without his patient but efficient oversight. But more importantly, he gave me great advice and support in every step of the process, and yet allowed me space such that he was never influencing the key decisions, just providing a great sounding board. He was clear about the pros and cons to reality check things like the quirky features that I loved but could impact resale. My house-hunting, close, and move-in went like clockwork and that is largely because of John's professionalism and decades of experience in the DMV real estate market. This is gonna be a long review, so I'm just gonna get it out of the way now. John was great. Beyond just being a great agent, he's a great human being. John had to deal with me being a first time home buyer, and having a thousand questions, combined with a super brutal sellers market.

My wife and I started our home search in Jan. 2022 and didn't close on a home until the end of Sept 2022. In that time span, We looked at over 30 properties and made 9 offers. Constantly getting beat out by crazy buyers offering a bajillion dollars with no contingencies, got tiring and depressing. But John was always there with what ever we needed. Motivating us to keeping pushing at times, and also letting us take a break to get over losing out on yet another offer. He takes the time to walk you thru the property and break things down from an educational perspective. So that you are learning with every property you view. Which was perfect for a first time home buyer, like myself. Even when he was out of town, there was no drop in communication via phone calls and text messages. He never left us hanging or short changed us in anyway.

And lastly, my wife is a repeat customer. John was her agent when she bought her condo 11 years ago. And 11 years later when it came time to sell that condo, so we could put that money toward our first house as a couple, John was our agent. Also, John helped her brother and his wife buy their first home. And when our daughter is old enough and ready, if John isn't retired laying on a beach, he will definitely be our first choice.

Sorry, for such a long review. But hey we just closed on our home last week. And it's hard to narrow a 9 month experience down to just a few sentences.
