John Shields has grown up in the Richmond area his entire life, specifically Mechanicsville since he was 2 years old. He is a graduate of James Madison University where he studied marketing, with a concentration in digital marketing. He has always loved houses and wanted to be a construction worker as a kid due to his obsession with building Lego houses. As he grew older, he then wanted to get into architecture. However, it wasn't until college when he finally realized that real estate was what he really wanted to do, just as his grandpa did.

With his background in business and marketing, he has translated these skills into his real estate career.
