Entrepreneurship has been in Josh’s blood from the beginning. When he was 19 and still acquiring a business degree from CSU, Fresno, he founded American West Books, a book distribution business. AWB became one of the top book distributing companies in the nation and was a major, international supplier of books and calendars to chains such as Costco, Sam’s Club, Whole Foods, and REI. Feeling a need for a change, he sold AWB after nearly 24 years at the helm.

Soon after, he co-founded Hummingbird Digital Media, a tech company that developed a platform and an app allowing online businesses, independent bookstores, nonprofits, and others to compete with Amazon, Apple, Google, and Barnes & Noble by selling e-books and digital audiobooks to consumers. After five years of success and sales soaring more than 17,000% in the last year, HDM was acquired by a large online marketing company.
