About Kandy
Life is all about change. I’ve spent my work life re-inventing and challenging myself. Becoming a REALTOR® at MKB gives me an opportunity to work with an organization that is locally owned, has similar values, and has a strong reputation in the community – qualities that hold special importance to me.
I have been a customer of MKB myself several times over the years; I know what it is like to work with this firm and the strong emphasis it puts on community ties and unwavering values. Now that it’s my turn to offer my service to others in the market to buy or sell homes, I am constantly reminded about how comforting it was to have professional guidance through a oftentimes stressful and difficult time. I believe my background as a successful problem solver and effective listener makes me well suited to navigate clients through a sometimes tricky process. It is a career I truly enjoy, and I can think of no better setting than being here in the Valley.
My history and ties to this beautiful region run deep. In his later years, my paternal grandfather enjoyed his role as a real estate broker. My maternal grandfather was a flower grower and retailer. He and his family were raised and worked on a farm in NW Roanoke where they operated large greenhouses exploding with fragrant flowers. Later, my father (who also had his real estate broker license), joined the organization and expanded into the wholesale flower business. 365 days a year, for 80 years, the flower business shaped our family’s values. My strong, blue collar work ethic comes straight from them. I am literally rooted in the soil of this community.
A diverse and exhilarating professional background has fed my body, but I have always found that volunteer work feeds my soul. I am honored to have served on many community and statewide boards and continue to serve on several today. In 2004, I co-founded The Roanoke Women’s Foundation, something I feel incredibly proud to have had a hand in creating. This philanthropic organization was created to connect the power of women and their pooled financial resources to enhance the quality of life in our communities. To date, the foundation has awarded more than $4.5 million to over 80 non-profit organizations in the Roanoke and surrounding communities.
I am proud of my community. It’s home - the place that’s forged who I am.
