About Karen

Raised in Portsmouth VA, Karen thought that nothing would convince her to leave Tidewater where her family spent weekends swimming at VA Beach. However she learned to ski at Massanutten while attending JMU and decided to remain in the Shenandoah Valley after graduation. Karen also earned a Master's Degree in Education from JMU and taught for 32 years. After retiring from teaching in Page County, she worked for the next 8 years as a Realtor with Panorama Realty in Luray which since has merged with Funkhouser Real Estate Group. Karen and her husband Rick, a native of Mount Jackson, enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, attending music concerts and traveling (when they can get a pet sitter for their 2 dogs & cats). Karen has served as a volunteer speaker for the VHDA Home Buyer Education classes. In 2015, she received "Sales Associate of the Year" from the Massanutten Association of Realtors. An educator at heart, Karen strives to provide her clients with the information and resources necessary to make informed decisions leading to a successful real estate transaction.
