About Karen

Hi, I’m Karen Harper—a lifelong Chesapeake native and your neighborhood real estate expert. With nearly 20 years of experience as an Associate Broker in Virginia and a Broker in North Carolina, I’m passionate about helping people buy and sell homes across Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina.
Real estate isn’t just my job—it’s my way of giving back to the community I love. I’m proud to be the daughter of the late Raymond Harper, Chesapeake’s historian and author of many books that capture our area’s rich history. That deep local connection gives me unique insight and a genuine love for this region.
Before my real estate career, I spent 13 years teaching elementary school in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, after earning my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Old Dominion University. Teaching gave me skills I use every day in real estate: patience, clear communication, and a true desire to help people succeed.
In my first year as a Realtor, I was honored to be named Hampton Roads Rookie of the Year—and I’ve continued to earn the Circle of Excellence Award year after year.
Outside of real estate, I’m a mom to three wonderful children (all graduates of Hickory High School) and a very proud first-time grandmother. I also stay involved in causes close to my heart as Vice President of Wings Over Leukemia and Lymphoma, a sponsor of the Oscar Smith Football Booster Club and being an active local church member.
