Katherine Funk

Katherine Funk rented for one year and never looked back. For the last six years, she has been living the house hack life buying a multifamily property, renovating it, renting it out, and moving. Her husband and she have lived in three out of five of their properties and became hooked on investing with various strategies. She found a love and passion for understanding how homes work, how to add value, renovate them, and interior home design. Katherine started in the long-term market and quickly found the short-term and medium-term rental markets exhilarating. They currently have five Airbnb properties three of which she oversaw the construction from raw land to new construction and fully furnished. Katherine lives in the west suburbs now with her husband and dog Nari whom they rescued from Secondhand Hounds. Her hobbies are traveling to new places, soccer, sand volleyball, road biking, and woodworking/DIY projects. She worked in IT healthcare for four years which during the time she bought her first property. As those years went by, Katherine asked herself, why is she not in real estate? Taking that leap a few years ago was the best decision of her life because now she gets to share her knowledge and help others understand what to look for in a home, how to add value, and what to look out for whether it’s your first home or your third rental property.
